Yin Yoga Teacher Training

50-HOUR YIN YOGA TEACHER TRAINING

The Five Phases: Yin, Fascia & Taoist Energetics

27 & 28 February

13 & 14 March

2027 | Soul Tribe Studio, Mogo

Yin Yoga is a practice of listening.

Listening to the body. To sensation. To the subtle movement of energy. To the places where we hold, resist, soften and change.

This 50-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training is an immersive exploration of Yin through the lens of modern fascia science, functional anatomy and the wisdom of Taoist energetic practices.

Across two weekends, we will explore Yin as a living conversation between stillness and movement, structure and energy, Yin and Yang.

The training will be woven through the Wu Xing — the Five Phases of Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal. In Taoist philosophy, these are not simply five fixed “elements”, but ways of understanding the movement and transformation of energy through nature, our bodies and our lives.

Each day of the training will have its own energetic landscape.

Saturday 27 February — WATER 水
Stillness, depth, the kidneys and bladder, fear and wisdom. We begin by descending — exploring the foundations of Yin, the nervous system, fascia, functional anatomy and the art of becoming quiet enough to listen.

Sunday 28 February — WOOD 木
Growth, direction, vision and movement. Through the liver and gallbladder pathways we explore healthy tension, mobility, skeletal variation, sequencing and the relationship between Yin and gentle Yang movement.

Saturday 13 March — EARTH 土
Grounding, nourishment and support. Earth becomes the container for exploring touch, props, teaching skills, holding space and the relationship between the physical, emotional and energetic bodies.

Sunday 14 March — METAL 金 & FIRE 火
Release, connection and transformation. Our final day brings the Five Phases together through breath, heart, lungs, letting go, joy and integration — culminating in practice teaching and creating meaningful Yin experiences of your own.

More than the postures

Throughout the training we will explore the tools that have increasingly become part of my own Yin teaching:

Functional anatomy & fascia science — understanding connective tissue, skeletal variation, tension and compression, and why there is no single “correct” expression of a Yin shape.

Taoist energetics & meridian theory — exploring Qi, Yin and Yang, the Five Phases and the energetic pathways traditionally associated with the organs.

Acupressure — simple, accessible acupressure points that can be woven into Yin practice for self-touch, awareness and energetic exploration.

Touch — developing sensitive, consent-based ways of offering supportive touch within Yin, and understanding when touch serves the student — and when it doesn't.

Yin + Yang — learning how small amounts of gentle Yang movement can complement stillness, including intuitive movement, joint mobilisation and Qigong-inspired practices between longer-held Yin shapes.

Breath, meditation & subtle awareness — using breath and attention as part of the practice rather than treating the physical shapes as the whole practice.

Sequencing & teaching methodology — learning how to create intelligent, embodied Yin classes that weave together anatomy, energetics, philosophy and experience without overwhelming the student with information.

And, of course, we will spend plenty of time practising Yin.

This is not about memorising a set of poses or learning one prescribed way to teach.

It is about developing a deeper understanding of the body, cultivating sensitivity to Qi and sensation, and learning how to create Yin practices that are intelligent, spacious, embodied and alive.

50 hours of study

The training includes 40 hours of face-to-face study at Soul Tribe across four full training days, plus 10 hours of guided home study and integration.

Saturday 27 Feb — 7am–6pm
Sunday 28 Feb — 7am–6pm
Saturday 13 March — 7am–6pm
Sunday 14 March — 7am–6pm

The home-study component will include personal Yin practice and reflection, selected reading/theory, and the creation of your own Yin sequence. The two-week space between our training weekends gives you an opportunity to take the teachings into your own body and practice before we come together again.

Who is it for?

This training is designed for yoga teachers who want to deepen or begin teaching Yin, as well as experienced practitioners who feel called to explore Yin Yoga, Taoist philosophy and the subtle body more deeply.

You do not need to be a yoga teacher to participate.

You do need curiosity, a willingness to explore, and an openness to slowing down enough to listen.

Investment: $1200 - payment plan available, see below.
